Once You Go M.A.C - You Never Go Back (Lipstick Collection)

It is no hidden secret that I'm crazy for M.A.C, in particular - their lipsticks. I have a few lipsticks left over in my collection - a few of which I have repurchased. This blog post will be all about my love for them!

Firstly, I will explain the "finishes" of MAC lip products.

Satin

These are highly pigmented and is my second favourite MAC finish. These go on very heavy, with sheen. Quite hydrating.

Amplified

This is my favourite finish on a MAC lipstick. The colour tends to go on very opaque and sheer, quite moisturising. Currently, MAC doesn't have a large amount of colours with this finish, I hope that this will change in the future!

Matte

This finish goes on very dry and intense(high pigmentation) - no shine/gloss at all. My least favourite finish!

Cremesheen

The secret is in the name of this finish - it goes on creamy, and glossy! The pigmentation in this lipstick is pretty high. Many of the colours in this range are nude.

Lustre

The coverage is very light and glossy - I find these lipsticks very easy to work with and to build up into an intense colour - high pigmentation.

Frost

I've never owned a frost finish lipstick - I think these lipsticks look very dry and very shimmery. I don't fancy having disco-ball lips. From what i've been told, they have a good wear time.

Glaze

This finish of lipstick reminds me of "your lips but better". The pigmentation is pretty low but that's the joy of this lipstick. It is similar to cremesheen in some ways - it is very glossy. Although - I do not believe that this lipstick lasts very long.

My Collection

Girl About Town (Amplified)

As you can see this is a bright fuschia pink colour. I tend to wear this colour on nights out, and on dull days with dull clothes - in desperate need of a pop of colour!

Amorous(Satin)

In certain lights, this colour can look very purple. It is a deep pink/red. I call it "red wine diluted with lemonade". This colour has ultimate stay power. Very similar to my other favourite - Twig (See below).

Twig(Satin)

I think Twig, is a more daily wearable version of Amorous. I tend to wear this colour more than Amorous throughout the day - then switch them over at night! Once again, I think this colour is wine like.

Russian Red (Matte)

This colour is a deep red, probably one of MAC's most popular lipstick. Unfortunately in my collection, it is the least popular. This comes from my hatred of highly pigmented, drying lipsticks (Matte). You don't have to wear this lipstick for long before it starts to bleed and become cakey and crumbly.

Please Me (Matte)

This is a matte lipstick, and although i have expressed my hatred for this finish of lipstick numerous times - I do adore the colour of this lipstick. The most disappointing factor is the dryness. If you are considering buying this lipstick, i recommend wearing it with vasaline under it or over it, or at least some sore of gloss - or lipcote. To seal in the colour and to keep is smooth. As i mentioned previously - this lipstick bleeds and crumbles easily.

Speed-Dial (Creme-sheen)

This is the newest addition to my MAC Lipstick collection. I cannot fault this lipstick at all. This colour in particular is "your lips, but better". I find it very moisturising and very natural looking - both colour wise, and the way it lies on your lips.

Finisher

MAC lipsticks are my favourite lipsticks. Although, if you cannot afford them, there are plenty of dupe colours, available in superdrug and boots stores. Personally, at £14 I cannot say no to MAC lipsticks. Plus, it took me over 2 years to completely use up a limited edition lipstick from Lady Gaga!

Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope you have a fantastic day. Much love, Lauren xoxo
