TIPS FOR LONG LASTING MAKE-UP│ January 2014 │♥

We all have this problem (well, more so if you're a make-up wearing female, but hey I'm not judging anybody) You leave the house looking something similar to this at 8:00AM

and come home looking like this at 4:00PM

1) The most basic rule of long lasting make-up that will stay put and last all day is PRIMING. I still cannot believe that right now in 2014 some make-up wearers still do not wear primer underneath their foundation, it's absolute MADNESS. I'm not going to talk too much about priming in this blog post, but click here to see my previous blog post/rant about priming

2) Another important step for long lasting make-up comes before priming, looking after your skin. If you have oily skin, use products suitable for your skin type that will strip your skin of greasy oily, open pores. If you have dry skin, use a moisturiser and cleanser appropriate for your dry skin. If you don't look after your skin and do not cater your skin routine for your skin type, the make-up will either run off your face by the end of the day (oily skin), if you have dry skin, and do not take care of it, your foundation will cling to your dry skin - causing really flaky patches.

3) Avoid creamy eye shadows and cream based blushers/bronzers when you have a full coverage foundation on. Most liquid foundations are water/oil based, and applying a cream on top of the oil will make it slide. No matter how high quality the brand is, these two products will not mix very well together.

4) Vaseline is now your best friend. Apply a generous layer before you start doing your make-up, before you apply your lipstick, take the thick layer off with a tissue. Lipstick loves, smooth moisturised lips. Lipstick HATES your scabby dry chapped lips. Especially when using matte lipstick. For matte lipstick to look nice, your lips need to be moisturised and well looked after. Although, matte lipstick can be very drying, and actually make your lips look dry and flaky. So the moral of the story is vaseline.

5) Although lip stains can be slightly drying, the truth is in the name. They will stain your lips, and can be very difficult to remove on occasions, but hell... they won't budge from your lip! Once again, when using lip stains, make sure your lips are as smooth as a babies bottom.

6) When it comes to eyelashes and eye liner, it's best to go for water proof. Once again the truth is in the name. These products are water proof (rain proof and sweat proof also!) and are very hard to budge, even with a make-up wipe! But once again, this will save you looking like a gothic panda by the end of the day.

7) Always use a powder to set your foundation. If you have oily skin, it's best to completely avoid dewy oily foundations. Use a matte foundation and use a mattifying powder on top to set your foundation. For other skin types such as dry, congratulations, you can use slightly more natural looking foundations. Although a mattifying powder may stick to the dry patches of your faces, a translucent setting powder will work perfectly and help your foundation last much longer.

I hope that you found some of these quick tips useful and will take them on board, nobody likes going out looking like Taylor Swift and coming home looking like Kesha.
